Structural and functional materials for aviation and aerospace

From the point of view of the progress of aviation and aerospace development, advanced means such as control system and communication system are important factors to promote aviation and aerospace development, but the application of high-performance materials is also an indispensable factor for the development of aerial crafts  such as airplane and spacecraft, etc. It can be said that aviation materials cover the most advanced scientific and technological achievements in the field of current material science and technology, from the heart of the aircraft - the engine, to the overall structure of the aircraft, every small link is closely related to the high technology of modern materials.

Aviation materials can be categorized in different ways: aviation materials can be divided into four main categories according to their composition:

•Metal materials: aluminum alloy, magnesium alloy, titanium alloy, steel, high-temperature alloy, powder metallurgy alloy, and so on.

•Inorganic non-metallic materials: glass and ceramic, etc.

•Polymer materials: transparent material, adhesive, rubber and sealant, coating and engineering plastic, etc.

•Advanced composite materials: polymer-based composite material, metal-based composite material, inorganic non-metal-based composite material, carbon/carbon composite material, etc.
